This is Paul, a high school dyslexia specialist at Hutto High School. Thirteen years ago he decided that he wanted to express his gratitude to the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep others safe, so he founded a Veterans Day Airshow as part of the Hutto Independent School District’s Veterans Day celebration for the community.
This year’s show featured 13 planes and skydivers landing at elementary and middle schools. He starts planning the show each year in August and works with many different agencies on the logistics. Over the years, he has also escorted Wounded Warrior and Honor Flight veterans on these Airshow planes as well as crewed on the last flying Marine WWII B-25 plane, “Devil Dog.”
Teachers are busy people. So why does he do these things? “I’ve learned that giving is the reward."
